Volunteering researcher / practitioner roundtable survey results

Right Lane worked with Volunteering Victoria to conduct a brief survey into links between volunteering researchers and practitioners. The economic value of volunteer services provided by more than one-third of Australians is measured in the billions of dollars, so the connection between research and practice is of considerable importance to the nation. The results of the survey were presented in May 2012, in the lead up to National Volunteer Week, at a volunteering researcher/practitioner roundtable. The roundtable was an initiative of Volunteering Australia's Volunteering Research Agenda Advisory Group and Volunteering Victoria. Strategic planning processes of Victorian not for profits

Right Lane conducted a survey of strategic planning practices among Victorian not for profits. The survey, which was conducted in October and November 2011 and published in April 2012, showed that respondents' organisations had strategic plans in place; but that there was some room for improvement in strategy measurement and staff engagement.

Super fund strategy and planning practices: What are funds doing to position themselves for future success?

In September 2009, Right Lane completed a small mixed methods research study about strategy and planning practices in super funds. This summary of the findings and conclusions of the study suggests that funds should articulate a well-conceived strategy and direction at the highest level—and a short list of corresponding initiatives, or program of actions, that will support it; be clear about what internal and external conditions will support the strategy and its implementation; monitor and measure implementation; and be willing to adjust their course as circumstances change.

Taking it one week at a time

In this article Marc Levy and Greg Swann revisit a popular but surprisingly shallow oeuvre: what business can learn from sport. They identify eight practices that would benefit most organisations the authors have observed.
